Welcome to an innovative understanding of psychosocial adjustment and rehabilitation in chronic long-term conditions

Chronic long-term conditions can turn lives upside down and it is often a challenge to find new ways of living well. Typically, certain daily routines have to be changed and that can be difficult, even if one is motivated. It can also be daunting to face one’s emotional reactions and the ensuing disruption of life caused by acquiring one or more chronic conditions.

  • MACC offers a novel understanding of the psychological process of adjustment to life with a chronic long-term condition
  • IMACC can help people with chronic long-term conditions understand what is getting in the way of finding a way to live well with their condition(s)
  • IMACC can be applied by healthcare professionals as an integrative framework programme for assessment and intervention for people with psychosocial adjustment difficulties (psychosocial rehabilitation)

IMACC Rehabilitation Psychology (IMACC-RePs) offers:

Training and talks about the evidence based IMACC system.
Coordination and project management of psychosocial rehabilitation research and development.
Development of psychosocial interventions based on IMACC. Other contract research, e.g. qualitative analysis and report writing.
Writing and/or editing of reports and articles in academic English.
